The Beginning – 4th March, 2024
It all started with three pharmacy students and a small dream. Back then, আমু-AMU wasn’t even the concept it is today, just a little stationery venture that took part in its very first event at BRAC University. That day, on 4th March 2024, marked the humble beginning of what would soon become a growing community of dreamers.
The Realization
Soon after, we began to understand how challenging it is to start a business from scratch, especially with limited resources and guidance. That struggle opened our eyes to something bigger: there must be many others like us, trying to find their footing. That’s when we decided আমু-AMU would be for them, for the Bangladeshi small business owners, SMEs who deserve a platform to shine.
The First Step with a New Vision
With this new purpose, আমু-AMU took shape. Within just a month, ten amazing enterprises trusted us and joined hands. With their collections we participated in ‘Uddami Ami’, an event organized by BRAC Business School. That event changed everything, it wasn’t just about selling products anymore; it was about representing small dreams under one roof.
The Expansion
As our vision grew, so did our family. With the support of our friends, families, and incredible enterprises, আমু-AMU began participating in events across Dhaka from Jatra Biroti’s Autumn Fair, NSU, EWU, Bangladesh Shishu Academy, Rishka Fest, and many others, including more than 10 events at BRAC University itself. People loved how we brought Bangladeshi handmade creations, from jewelry, tote bags, and accessories to décor and stationery closer to them, while representing talented local entrepreneurs.
Becoming a Family
Within just one year, আমু-AMU grew into a community of 30+ entrepreneurs and enterprises, each unique, passionate, and driven. What began as three pharmacy students’ small dream has now become a collective mission to empower small businesses and revive local artistry across Bangladesh.
