Why is it important to recite Bismillah before eating?

Bismillah is recommended to be said before any work, any task. It is because when we start in the ‘name of Allah’, the task brings barakah and rewards.

‘Bismi-llāhi awwalahū wa ākhirah’

In the Name of Allah at the beginning and at the end of it.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: When one of you eats, he should mention Allah’s name; if he forgets to mention Allah’s name at the beginning, he should say [the above].” (Abu Dawud 3767, Tirmidhī 1858)
